You Have Gifts -- Share Them!
You want to change your life, but how? And what can you possibly do that will make a difference, or change the world? Imagine: a world filled with lonely people, unsure how to reach out to others, each not knowing what to offer. Clients will come in sad, depressed and feeling lost, asking: "Who am I to think I have anything of value to offer the world?"
The answer is each of us, all of us, have many unique gifts to share with the world. More importantly, they're not always the ones you expect or that you've been struggling to perfect for years. Most often, they're the things you do effortlessly, that you take for granted, that you think no one would ever value. Above all, you have your heart and your many experiences. Are you willing to share them, changing your life and the world?
I have four lovely, talented, gifted sisters, all younger. Each of them, at some level, learned to be very frustrated with me or even angry with me as they moved through high school. Not because I personally did something to them directly, but because teachers expected that they would have the exact same academic and creative strengths that I did. Incredibly unfair? Absolutely! Incredibly common? Sadly, yes.
Have you ever heard the phrase "Jack of all trades, master of none"? It is a derogatory statement, applied by some to people to whom many things seem to come easy. And yet, to a Thomas Jefferson, the term Reniassance Man was applied. What was the difference? Is there something intrinsically wrong with having many talents? Why do we view multitalented individuals with suspicion?
Having thrown those thoughts to the winds, let's take a look at you. What are you so good at, you take it for granted? Are you the type of person who always knows the right thing to say? Do you have the ability to state complex ideas simply? Can you help others see the beauty and value they bring to the world? Is your writing something that others value?
So often, in our society, talent or gifts are viewed with suspicion, simply because they come naturally. We are often told that if something comes without hard work, then it has less value. And yet, is there anything that compares with the music created by a virtuoso? art created by a master? What is their work but the perfection of something that came naturally to them?
What if you were born with everything you needed to make a significant difference in the world without effort? What if you already have many gifts? What if your gifts could be combined with those of others to create a far better world?
What if your life's purpose was to use the gifts you already have, to perfect them, and to thus make the world a better place?
Wouldn't that be an amazing, wonderful way to spend the rest of your life?
Allow yourself to be patient and to be true to yourself. Remember to take at least five minutes every day to simply be by yourself and breathe. Allow yourself to indulge in a moment of thought, reflection, and planning when the mood strikes. It's your life, your choice. Allow yourself to simply succeed on your own terms, to live in peace, abundance, and joy. One day, one decision at a time, remaining aware of your choices and your feelings. You CAN get there.
And, as always, if you need help, I'm available. It's what I do, and it's what I love to do.
Sharon.
