Simply Enjoying

It's been a long few weeks at Springfield Hypnosis. Painting, installing carpet, moving, worrying, and designing the new spaces have not only consumed our days, but have haunted our dreams as well. Even more fun, the smell of latex paint permeates everything that we've worn or come in contact with.

We each get home achy, tired, and worn out. It's hard to remain positive when the prospect of actually finishing the projects seems so far in the future. Old school houses are thirsty beings, and drink gallons of paint.

Even worse, we feel overwhelmed and are finding it difficult to maintain our attitude of gratitude. How in the world can we remember to say "thank you" every day when we are so tired? How can we feel happy about our lives when they are such a burden at the moment?

I got my answer today, when I did take a five minute break from my life.

Honestly, I was tired, frustrated, and unable to cope with my family. I felt I had nothing to give them, and it was true that I did not. Feel free to call me a bad mother -- I truly felt like one.

Has this ever happened to you? Have you found yourself so tired or so overwhelmed that you could not do what you wanted to for those you truly loved?

I was very angry at myself in that moment. After all this work, and everything I've been working to acomplish, I'm unable to do anything for my loving yet demanding family. I realized that I was also very angry at them.

What a relief! I saw my anger. Ah. Now I could take a breath, and make a choice.

Excusing myself from my life, I walked into an empty room and closed the door. For five minutes, I did nothing but sit and breathe. For another five minutes, I allowed myself to view and answer email. Then, I got up, went back to my family and hugged everyone I felt I had hurt (yes, this inluded the dog).

Once I did all of this, I was able to say "thank you". Thank you for my life. Thank you for my family. Thank you for my profession. Thank you for my passion. Thank you for my clients. Thank you for everything. Yes, everything -- good and bad. It's my life, and I choose to enjoy it.

You, too, can do this. The burden that lifts from your shoulders when you say "thank you" is absolutely worth it.

Thank you. Saying it once allows you to once again see clearly. Saying it twice, with feeling, allows you that moment to again enjoy your life. Saying it at least once every day changes your entire life. Thank you.

Allow yourself to be patient and to be true to yourself. Remember to take at least five minutes every day to simply be by yourself and breathe. Allow yourself to indulge in a moment of thought, reflection, and planning when the mood strikes. It's your life, your choice. Allow yourself to simply succeed on your own terms, to live in peace, abundance, and joy. One day, one decision at a time, remaining aware of your choices and your feelings. You CAN get there.

And, as always, if you need help, I'm available. It's what I do, and it's what I love to do.

Sharon.
