I have spent the last ten days at the premier annual international hypnosis event, at which I also lectured. At this particular event, we had the choice of thirty-two pre- or post-convention classes, and approximately 300 trainings during the convention. I was amazed at the breadth of offerings, and took advantage of this opportunity to expand my knowledge and add to the gifts I bring to my clients. I've even had the honor of studying with Dick Sutphen, and have earned one of his certifications (Metaphysical Life Counselor).
I was also amazed by the number of attendees. Like me, they were seeking to learn as much as possible, from as many different exceptional people as possible. One thing did trouble me, though -- many of my fellow attendees have not yet begun to work in their preferred profession. Worried that there is still so much to learn, they continue to study, but never trust themselves to become the teacher or the practitioner.
I know I've been guilty of this in my life. Have you? Do you worry that you will never have enough to give others? That there will always be something more you need to learn before you can start? That no matter how much you try, you will never be fully prepared?
How do you know when you're ready to move forward and share that which you have inside?
All of us want to love and be loved, and all of us want to feel worthwhile in our lives. But when are we ready to bring our gifts to the world? When are we worthy?
I struggled with this question personally for many years. I spent hours reading, researching and studying, and spent thousands on my education. Schools, conferences, conventions and seminars filled my time and energy. Finally, one teacher had an answer I could use. He said, "there's always going to be someone younger than you, or further behind on the learning curve. You already have something to offer -- expertise, knowledge and passion. Get out there and do it!"
His words struck home for me. All these years, I had worked and studied and prayed. When it came down to the nitty gritty, I was waiting for someone to give me permission. Why? And who was supposed to be giving you permission? Are they inclined to, or do they see you as competition?
So, as I moved through the convention, I listened and I spoke. My friend expressed a desire to teach others about using the same techniques he uses with his gifted students and how he is successfully applying them to his autistic students (particularly those with Aspberger's). But he is hesitant, and worries that he should study it further. He has a PhD in Education and has well over a thousand books on these subjects! What more must he study to be considered an expert? How many more hundreds of students must he help? If he doubts himself, then shouldn't I doubt myself?
Honestly, no. Instead, he needs to believe in himself.
Look behind you (metaphorically speaking). Are there others younger than you, or a step behind you on your path? Can they benefit from your knowledge, your expertise, or your experience?
What would you love to share? What do you love to do? What gifts do you have? What do you find easy or effortless?
In any of these things, you can find your magic, your gift and your passion. Give others, give yourself the gift of sharing that which is within you with others.
Allow yourself to be patient and to be true to yourself. Remember to take at least five minutes every day to simply be by yourself and breathe. Allow yourself to indulge in a moment of thought, reflection, and planning when the mood strikes. It's your life, your choice. Allow yourself to simply succeed on your own terms, to live in peace, abundance, and joy. One day, one decision at a time, remaining aware of your choices and your feelings. You CAN get there.
And, as always, if you need help, I'm available. It's what I do, and it's what I love to do.
Sharon.

When you read this essay, could you find parallels in your own life? The first challenge for you this week is to catch yourself thinking that you need to learn more before beginning to share your gifts or passions with others. Stop yourself and ask if potential students would agree with you, and then ask if there are others who know less than you. Are you willing to face your fears, go out on a limb and teach one person what you know?
Unleash your inner divinity! If you were a God/Goddess, you would be the one inspiring others, not the one studying and insisting that there is more to learn. Using your powers, select the topic that you would most love to share with others. Now, imagine your perfect setting and perfect students and see yourself effortlessly teaching. How do you feel after doing this?
Are you waiting for permission before you share your gifts and talents with the world? Read today's essay, and try the Inner Realization Work in the right margin, and see if your attitude changes.
